Selective Schooling – It’s All About Grammar

Theresa May has been back from the summer recess less than a week and is already making an impact on the headlines. She announced today that all schools will be able to apply to select their pupils based on academic ability.

This is an issue that divides our nation. From those who believe that this is the best way forward, allowing everyone the chance to excel by being selected to work with peers of the same academic level, to those who believe that all pupils of all abilities should work together to the benefit of every child.

Whichever side of this argument you inhabit, it’s hard to disagree with the fact that this policy decision today has the potential to make far-reaching changes to the school system in the UK.

What do you think about it all?
