Sex Education and Our Teens

Greycoat Law came across this article today which discusses as part of the story the level of sexual harassment directed at girls in school. A recent inquiry report describes such harassment on a ‘shocking scale’ and seeks to push for wholesale change in how such behaviour is dealt with in schools.

A change to sex education is something that has been mooted as a way to bring about some of the necessary change. The problem that occurs to us is that the topic of what should be taught by schools is an emotive issue, with some parents feeling that this is a job best left to parents to others feeling that complete education by school is the best way.

However this is tackled, it is clearly vital that our girls feel that they can attend school and be kept safe from sexual harassment and violence, and education of boys and girls around this subject is essential to achieve this.
